Donations Needed To Aid Those Less Fortunate
Bloomington, Illinois - November 20, 2013 - The holidays are fast-approaching, and that means Christmas shopping, decorating and celebrations with family and friends will soon be in full effect. But it's also a time when those less fortunate, including the homeless can use a little extra support. In an effort to help provide those in need with items essential to everyday living, from November 20th until December 23rd, Culligan of Bloomington will be collecting items for Home Sweet Home Ministries (HSHM), an organization whose goal is to help serve the homeless and hungry with food, personal care items and infant supplies.
According to the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness, on any given night, approximately 750,000 men, women and children are homeless in the United States. With a mission to serve Christ by providing food, shelter and hope to the hungry, homeless and hurting, Home Sweet Home Ministries served 135,000 meals to those less fortunate in 2012. Today they provide more than 400 meals each day. They also distribute over 500 food boxes for individuals and families each month.
Some of the supplies urgently needed for those people HSHM support include: Hamburger Helper, Ramen Noodles, baby formula, diapers, shampoo and deodorant. Donations can be dropped off at the Culligan store: 8 Gilmore Drive in Bloomington.
